This compound is highly soluble in water, but insoluble in ethanol. For example, at a temperature of 25°C, its solubility in water is about 25 grams per 100 milliliters. It also shows a certain degree of deliquescence. The pH value of a 1% aqueous solution usually ranges from 4.4 to 4.7. When heated to around 400°C, it undergoes a dehydration reaction and is converted into potassium metaphosphate.
