Properties
Biodegradability: PLGA degrades into lactic acid and glycolic acid, both of which are metabolized by the body.
Biocompatibility: It is generally considered biocompatible, which makes it suitable for medical applications.
Mechanical Strength: The mechanical properties can be tuned by altering the lactide-to-glycolide ratio.
Degradation Rate: The degradation rate depends on the copolymer ratio, molecular weight, and crystallinity. PLGA with a higher glycolide content typically degrades faster.
