Working principle
The molecular structure contains three 2-chloropropyl groups and one phosphate group. This structure endows it with flame retardant properties, enabling it to play roles in both gas-phase and condensed-phase flame retardation during the combustion process by releasing phosphorus-containing free radicals and other substances to interrupt the free radical chain reaction of the combustion reaction.
Use
Tris(2-chloroisopropyl) Phosphate is an important flame retardant in various polymer materials such as polyurethane foam plastics (including flexible and rigid foams), polyvinyl chloride, epoxy resins, and unsaturated polyester resins. In polyurethane foams, it can effectively improve the flame retardant performance of the materials, enabling the foam materials to self-extinguish or slow down the burning rate when exposed to a fire source, thereby reducing the risk of fire.
Besides its flame retardant effect, it can also play a certain role in plasticization to some extent, making polymer materials softer and easier to process and mold.
